Aperture Australia is a photography conference that deserves a spot on your 2019 calendar. Held over the 22-23 June, we celebrate the collective insight and advice from some of our country’s finest legends of the lens. Even if you’re not a photographer, the images and stories from Australia’s best will blow you away.
WHAT’S NEW IN 2019
In 2019, we will be expanding into overseas talent, bringing into the fold a more diverse background of speakers with some truly unique perspectives.
To complement the tech talks in the auditorium there will be more time to explore the increased trade stalls and immerse yourself in new gear and industry trends.
Education in the industry is key to help build and nurture talent. We will be running a series of workshops that will be at the conference itself and on location with speakers as mentors.
DO YOU KNOW JOSEPH NICEPHORE?
IN 1825, THIS MAN CAPTURED THE FIRST PHOTOGRAPH.
Since that moment, there have been many innovators like Joseph who have created something that has changed the future of our world. Yet, only a handful of those inventions have allowed us to reflect on where we have come from through the power of a single still image.
The work of a photographer is timeless. The images captured since 1825 of different decades, places and faces are a constant reminder of the ever-evolving nature of our world. From our greatest triumphs, to the horror of war, photography has no limits in what it can express.
WE BELIEVE PHOTOGRAPHY IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ART FORMS EVER CREATED.
WE'VE DESIGNED THIS ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO CELEBRATE THAT.
As the art of photography continues to evolve in the digital age, accelerated by the latest innovations in technology, a greater number of people can now access photography than ever before. In fact, statistics indicate that the average person will see up to 1000 photographic images per day. Not even Joseph himself could have predicted that.
The aim of our Aperture Australia photography conference is to create an interactive space for hobbyists and professional photographers to develop their knowledge and skills while being inspired by the room of like-minded enthusiasts around them.
Aperture Australia attendees will hear exclusive presentations from a select list of influencers in the field of photography, representing an impressive range of disciplines. These speakers will talk openly about their most iconic works, the gear they use, turning points in their career, and the raw reality behind their profession. At the core of this conference is an open opportunity to connect with the personalities behind the camera, and find your own inspiration from what drives their passion.
